While the real-world results were decidedly “meh,” Allen continues to be a legitimate fantasy producer
The Buffalo Bills lost another winnable game to a divisional opponent this weekend. After dropping a 21-17 game to the Miami Dolphins on the road, the Bills lost 27-23 to the New York Jets at home. The consecutive losses dropped Buffalo’s record to 4-9 overall, and officially eliminated them from playoff contention.
While the on-field returns from quarterback Josh Allen have been mixed over the last two weeks, his fantasy-football production has been nothing short of excellent. He once again finished among the scoring leaders at his position, extending a remarkable streak of scoring since his return from an elbow injury.
Here are the top performers for Buffalo this week in fantasy football.
QB Josh Allen
As we mentioned above, Allen finished with QB1 numbers for the third consecutive week. His 20.34 points were his lowest output since his return from a sprained throwing elbow. He sandbagged himself by turning the football over three times, but he was still able to finish in the top ten in scoring among quarterbacks this week. Allen threw for 206 yards and two interceptions, but the big story once again was his rushing ability. Allen turned nine carries into 101 yards and a touchdown—although he also lost a fumble. Allen became the fourth player in Buffalo Bills history to rush for at least 99 yards in three consecutive games, joining Thurman Thomas, Fred Jackson, and O.J. Simpson. Allen has struggled with accuracy, completing exactly 50% of his passes (44-of-88) over his last three games, but he has provided fantasy-football scoring at a solid rate. Allen is sixteenth among all quarterbacks in scoring over the last four weeks, a time frame that includes Buffalo’s bye in Week 12. If you’re in the playoffs and looking for a huge potential boom play, Allen is available in 86% of Yahoo! leagues.
WR Isaiah McKenzie
The jack-of-all-trades receiver had another strong day, using his speed and quickness to beat the Jets in both the passing and running game. McKenzie rushed four times for 22 yards, including a 15-yard touchdown on a jet sweep that gave Buffalo a 14-3 lead in the first half. He also caught four passes on seven total targets for 47 yards. McKenzie scored 14.9 fantasy points on the day, which put him in the WR3 conversation in half-PPR leagues. While his opportunities have been increasing over the last few weeks, his fantasy scoring is still very touchdown-dependent. Given offensive coordinator Brian Daboll’s propensity to use McKenzie as both a runner and a receiver, the Roscoe Parrish-like slot receiver is a dart throw—but a decent one for underdogs looking for a boom player. He is available in essentially all fantasy leagues.
WR Robert Foster
We’re witnessing a connection happening between two rookies, and it’s been pretty amazing so far. Foster has really come on since being re-signed a month ago, and Sunday was his second 100-yard receiving day in three weeks. Foster led all pass catchers in the game, turning eight targets into seven receptions and 104 yards. His 13.9 fantasy points were good for third on the Bills this week, but more important is his role going forward. With Kelvin Benjamin no longer with the team, Foster will see a greater number of targets as the season progresses. If Sunday is any indication, he could be primed to break out in the month of December. He is available in 99% of Yahoo! leagues, and he might be worth an add as a big-play flex option.
