Wyatt Teller was not used to this level of gift.
The Buffalo Bills quarterbacks came through for the offensive linemen with a Christmas present this week. To thank the o-line for protecting them all year, the quarterback room bought each lineman an iPad for Christmas.
“They put in a lot of work to help this team and we wanted to reward them for everything they do,” rookie Josh Allen told WGR’s Sal Capccio on Wednesday.
Wyatt Teller, himself a rookie, wasn’t expecting a gift this extravagant. For ten or more players, top-of-the-line iPads are an investment an NFL quarterback can make, for sure. Teller told WROC’s Thad Brown that in college at Virginia Tech, the offensive linemen received flasks as a present.
Just as a note, the gifts were from “the quarterbacks room” and not Allen personally. It’s difficult to know who contributed what to the gifts out of current and former quarterbacks Josh Allen, Matt Barkley, Derek Anderson, Nathan Peterman, and AJ McCarron or quarterbacks coach David Culley. Teller said they were from Allen, though.
Bills quarterbacks have been sacked 40 times this year, on 8.5% of their drop backs, on average. Another way to look at it is almost three times per game.
Note: An earlier version of this article incorrectly labeled the number of times Bills quarterbacks had been sacked.
