Jason B. Hirschhorn of Acme Packing Company talks to us about Packers this season.
This Sunday, the Arizona Cardinals travel to Lambeau Field to take on the reeling Green Bay Packers.
We wanted to take time over the next couple of days to get to know the Packers and what the heck went wrong this season and Jason B. Hirschhorn of Acme Packing Company was nice enough to drop by and give us a look at it.
Enjoy.
I’m sure you’ve gotten this question roughly 500 times, but is this season the nail in the Mike McCarthy coffin?
JBH:
The recent losses have certainly increased the national scrutiny of Mike McCarthy, but the Packers have probably made their decision already. I called the time of death on his tenure back on Nov. 5, the day after the Packers lost their second consecutive game coming out of the bye.
Perhaps the NFC unfolds in such a way that a mediocre Green Bay team can sneak into the playoffs as a wild-card, but that alone probably can’t save McCarthy’s job. Rather, he would need to lead the team to at least an NFC Championship Game, and this team just doesn’t have the horses to do so.
The most interesting aspect at play here is the danger the Packers have of going out like the New York Giants or even locally the Phoenix Suns.
That's not to say that the Giants or Suns had a player of the ilk of Aaron Rodgers, but moving on from a coach who has been successful is always a dangerous proposition.
Thanks to Jason for all his time this week.
