Donald grabs single-season DT sack record

The LA Rams superstar has had himself a season and even after two average games, Aaron Donald came up with three sacks in Glendale, Arizona.

Over the past week, the narrative regarding Los Angles Rams DT Aaron Donald was that his quiet play in the Sunday Night Football games put him out of the conversation for MVP. However, what was lost in the hand-wringing by the NFL media is that Donald is having a spectacular season that was emphasized with his dominating performance against the Arizona Cardinals. You can only count Donald out for so long.

Going into the game, Donald had 16.5 sacks and needed to surpass 18 sacks for the defensive tackle single-season record (previously set by Minnesota Vikings DT Keith Millard in 1989).

Additionally, with his three sacks, Aaron Donald has now set the Rams’ franchise record with 19.5 sacks, eclipsing Robert Quinn’s 19 sacks.

If you’re keeping track at home, Donald would need to replicate his performance next week against the San Francisco 49ers with another three sacks to tie the all-time single-season sacks record. Of course, this record is held by morning-show personality Michael Strahan and is somewhat controversial since QB Brett Favre basically gave him the record by lying down like a possum.
