Falcoholinks: All the Falcons news you need for Thursday, Dec. 27

The links aren’t done with Christmas giving.

Well, folks, Christmas is in the rear view mirror now, and all that’s left is cleaning up wrapping paper, eating all that leftover holiday ham and exchanging that gift your great aunt got you at the local department store.

The Falcoholic keeps rolling along in fine fashion, and we’ve got a good bunch of links to get you through the rest of the holidays.

Let’s get into them, shall we?

Out with the Old, In with the New?

The Atlanta Falcons might have some tough decisions to make here within the next couple of weeks.

Dan Quinn alluded in his post-holiday press conference that, hypothetically, the team’s late-season run won’t be the only coaching sample he’ll evaluate when deciding what to do with the staff after Sunday’s Tampa Bay game.

It’s possible that the team will be parting ways with both coordinators, Steve Sarkisian and Marquand Manuel. Special teams coach Keith Armstrong could also find his way out of Atlanta, also true with any positional coaches.

We could have a lot of new coaches stopping by Flowery Branch in the days and weeks ahead, so get ready.

Carolina, Continued

Since we’ve not had a lot of victories to celebrate this season, let’s continue to think back to Sunday’s win against the Carolina Panthers.

Adnan Ikic has his fantasy stud and dud to consider and Carter Breazeale broke down his annual Hat Tips and Head-Scrachers from the game.

Adnan also took a look at how the rest of the NFC South is doing as the season winds down.

Well, we at least know how one of them did Sunday. celebration.gif

Super Bowl Dreamin’ on Such a Winter’s Day

Dan Quinn spoke in his Monday presser about what the team is going to have to do to get back to Super Bowl contention, and the fixes are what you’d expect.

It’s not all that impossible (and might be best) to imagine Atlanta turning back into the team we thought they’d be in August. If they make the right coaching changes and offseason moves (which is a definite ‘if’), they’ll get there. If they make some false steps, injuries will only amend so much.

Quinn has shown a strong ability in the past to rectify mistakes, so let’s hope that continues into the rest of the winter and into the spring.

If you’re curious at what this old link-maker thinks the team needs to do, check out my latest column on how I hope the team adapts a forward-thinking mentality.

Them’s the links, folks. Here’s to the day ahead, and finding that last-minute gift under the Christmas tree.
