Four Texans Named to Pro Bowl

DeAndre Hopkins, J.J. Watt, Jadeveon Clowney and Benardrick McKinney were selected to the AFC Pro Bowl roster.

The NFL announced its Pro Bowl rosters on Tuesday night, and four Texans appeared on the roster.

To nobody’s surprise, the leading receiver in yards for the AFC, DeAndre Hopkins, was chosen as a starter.

J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney were also chosen as starters on the defensive side.

Watt is in the running for Comeback Player as he leads the AFC in sacks with 14.5 with Von Miller and is tied for the league lead in fumbles forced. Clowney was named to his third consecutive Pro Bowl with eight sacks and two fumble recoveries.

Benardrick McKinney is the first Pro Bowl newbie to represent the Texans. McKinney has been the heartbeat of the Texans’ defense this season, leading the team with 96 tackles which ranks eleventh among AFC defenders. McKinney is the backup for C.J. Mosley of Baltimore.

Houston’s four Pro Bowlers ranks third among all AFC teams with Kansas City’s five in second and Los Angeles’s seven leading the way.

Kareem Jackson, Tyrann Mathieu, Deshaun Watson and Lamar Miller were all named alternates for the Pro Bowl, and with all the injuries and Super Bowl players compromising the full roster to attend, chances are some more Texans might make it to Orlando.

Hopefully these guys are preparing for the Super Bowl during the final week of January, but it is nice to see several Texans recognized for their contributions.
