Jaguars activate FB Dimitri Flowers, QB Tanner Lee

The Jacksonville Jaguars made multiple roster moves on Friday afternoon, activating linebacker Donald Payne from the team’s reserve/injured list and promoting fullback Dimitri Flowers and quarterback Tanner Lee to the active roster from the club’s practice squad.

To make room on the 53-man roster, the Jaguars placed kicker Josh Lambo and offensive lineman Josh Wells on the reserve/injured list and waived linebacker Martrell Spaight.

Payne is a second-year linebacker who appeared in seven games this season before going on the reserve/injured list with a knee injury on October 25. Payne is the Jaguars’ second and final player to be “designated for return” from the reserve/injured list. Payne has appeared in 20 career games and has totaled 14 special teams tackles. Payne will wear No. 52 for the Jaguars.

Flowers played collegiately at Oklahoma from 2014 through 2017 and appeared in 53 games with 32 starts, totaling 151 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 36 carries (4.2 rush average) and 886 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns on 54 catches (16.4 receiving average). After going undrafted, Flowers spent time with the New York Jets before a one-day stint on the Jaguars’ practice squad in October. Flowers is the son of former first-round (2000 NFL Draft) DE Erik Flowers, and his cousin, Tre Flowers, plays cornerback for the Seattle Seahawks. Flowers, who wears No. 35 for the Jaguars, has yet to appear in an NFL game.

Lee was selected by the Jaguars in the sixth round (203rd overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft, and has spent the entire 2018 season on the team’s practice squad. He spent two seasons at Tulane before transferring to Nebraska and starting all 12 games in 2017. In his final collegiate season, Lee completed 246 of 428 passes (57.5 completion percentage) for 3,143 yards, 23 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Lee threw for 200-plus yards in 10 of 12 games in 2017 and his 23 passing touchdowns ranked third in the school’s single-season history. Overall, including his two seasons with Tulane, he appeared in 31 career games in college and threw for 6,744 yards, 46 touchdowns and 27 interceptions on 574 of 1,040 passing (55.2 completion percentage). Lee, who wears No. 3 for the Jaguars, has yet to appear in an NFL game.

The Jaguars now have 53 players on their active roster
