The Chargers are still firmly stuck in Andy Reid’s shadow
Ah, it’s that special moment when we sit down on Tuesday morning and complain about how various media outlets perceive our team! If you’ll recall, last week the Chargers beat the Steelers in a marvelous upset, but their Power Ranking average actually dropped almost a point. It didn’t make much sense then, but hey... it told us what we were looking to find out: They still don’t believe in the Chargers.
What about this week? The Chargers dispatched a lowly foe that fought much harder than predicted. In fact, it was a genuine game! The end result was that the Chargers moved to 10-3, unfortunately still just behind the Chiefs. However, perennial top-5-candidate Patriots lost in devastating fashion to a hook and ladder play in Miami. It was a bit beautiful, I can’t lie. With both the Rams and the Patriots stumbling, was there a chance for the Chargers to move up the ranks?

Top wish list item: A healthy Melvin Gordon. The Chargers have won both games Gordon missed with a sprained right knee. However, the Wisconsin product accounted for 36 percent of the Bolts’ scrimmage touchdowns before his injury. If the Chargers want to make a deep postseason run, they need a healthy Gordon to reach their full potential on offense. -- Eric D. Williams

Love the Chargers, but boy do they play to the level of their competition. Two weeks ago, they were fully capable of lighting up the Steelers in the second half to steal a road win.On Sunday, they plodded their way squarely into Bengals-esque mediocrity. Most folks were too zoomed in on Eagles- Cowboys or the Steelers’ debacle in Oakland to pay much attention to the squeaker at the L.A. soccer hub. Especially after the Bolts scored at will while going up 14-3 in the first half. Maybe the Chargers were looking ahead to the dandy of a matchup in Arrowhead this Thursday night. Let’s just say that ain’t Jeff Driskel they’ll be facing out there.
Side note: Respect, Michael Badgley ... making 14 of 15 field-goal tries since joining the fray in October is heady stuff. Badgley saved the day versus Cincy.

It wasn’t pretty against the Bengals, but they found a way. Now comes the biggest game of the year at Kansas City.

John Harbaugh’s Ravens should win two of their last three against Tampa Bay and Cleveland, but a Week 16 road trip to face Philip Rivers and the Los Angeles Chargers might doom their playoff chances.
The Broncos need to win out against Cleveland, Oakland and the Los Angeles Chargers to even be in contention for a playoff spot.

And there you have it. Another confusing week.
Last week it was CBS that received the dubious honor of “dork of the week” for dropping the Chargers from 4th to 9th because they won over the Steelers. This week they at least improved the Chargers ranking by one (roll eyes), but there is a more odd and confusing title holder this week: Our very own SB Nation.
Last week their article was titled “The Rams and the Chargers are the two best teams, fight me,” placing the Chargers at #2. Cool!
This week the same author shot the Bolts down to... number 9? And they don’t even explain WHY?!
Watch out, folks. This dorkitude appears to be communicable. Warn your friends and family, and steer clear of comment sections!
