Packers place Kenny Clark on injured reseve

The Packers placed third-year defensive tackle Kenny Clark on injured reserve to make room for Alex Light, the rookie offensive lineman who returns from a one-week suspension.

With rookie offensive lineman Alex Light returning from a one-game suspension, the Green Bay Packers needed to open up a roster spot. They opted to place defensive tackle Kenny Clark on injured reserve, officially ending the season of one of the team’s brightest young stars.

Despite appearing in only 13 games in 2018, Clark had his most productive season as a pass rusher. The third-year defensive lineman amassed six sacks and nine quarterback hits, both career highs. Clark enters the offseason still shy of his 24th birthday, making him younger than many of the prospects eligible for the 2019 NFL Draft.

As for Light, he rejoins an offensive line that could finish out the year without one or more starters in the season finale. Guard Lane Taylor did not suit up for the Packers’ Week 16 matchup with the New York Jets and offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga left the contest for a spell. Light will not start, but he could see time if other linemen cannot play or depart mid-game with an injury.
