Report: Broncos sign cornerback Jamar Taylor

Broncos add some corner depth to their secondary.

According to 9NEWS Denver’s Mike Klis, the Denver Broncos have signed veteran cornerback Jamar Taylor to a one-year deal.

Taylor is being added to the secondary after All-Pro cornerback Chris Harris Jr. suffered a fractured fibula in the Broncos victory over the Bengals. Harris will be out until at least the postseason(if the Broncos make it), so Taylor will have a few weeks to make an impact with the Broncos.

The former Boise State Bronco played 10 games with the Arizona Cardinals this year before being released by the team. Taylor visited with the Broncos yesterday and signed a deal with the team today.

Taylor has played six seasons in the NFL and has totaled 218 tackles, 0.5 sacks, 28 pass deflections, 3 interceptions, and 1 forced fumble.

It is unclear what role he will play with the Broncos. I’d expect corner Bradley Roby to move into the number one corner spot with veteran Tramaine Brock(if healthy) to be the number two corner. It’s possible Taylor plays the slot or moves outside with Roby or Brock moving into the slot. The Broncos also have youngsters Isaac Yiadom and Brendan Langley on the roster as well.

The Broncos patchwork secondary face Nick Mullens and the San Francisco 49ers this weekend.

Update:

To make room for Taylor on the Broncos roster, they have cut offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio who they just recently signed.
