Seahawks 2019 opponents finalized

http://bit.ly/2Al2pya

The 2018 NFL regular season is almost over, after which we’ll be seeing the Seattle Seahawks in the playoffs. I suppose it’s never too early to look a little bit further down the road, and take a look at the 2019 schedule.

Yes, the NFL has a set rotation that means 14 of 16 games are known well in advance, but the other two matchups are determined by final standings. We know the Seahawks will be runners-up in the NFC West, but Week 16’s results confirmed that the Philadelphia Eagles will finish second in the NFC East, while it’s been known for a bit longer that the Minnesota Vikings will be second-best in the NFC North.

Here’s the list of opponents Seattle will face in the 2019 regular season:

Home Games

Arizona Cardinals
Los Angeles Rams
San Francisco 49ers
Cincinnati Bengals
Baltimore Ravens
Minnesota Vikings
New Orleans Saints
Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Away Games

Arizona Cardinals
Los Angeles Rams
San Francisco 49ers
Pittsburgh Steelers
Cleveland Browns
Philadelphia Eagles
Carolina Panthers
Atlanta Falcons

The Bengals are one of two teams the Seahawks have never beaten under Russell Wilson, and the only team Pete Carroll hasn’t beaten in his entire tenure as Seattle’s head coach. That Steelers game will ideally not end the way the previous two trips to Pittsburgh went, with the Seahawks getting shutout.

Of course, we cannot ignore the fact that the Seahawks are playing the Panthers for seemingly the millionth time. The 2011 and 2017 seasons will end up being the only ones this entire decade in which the Seahawks and Panthers did not play each other. In fact, they played in the regular season and postseason in 2014 and 2015.

The 2019 schedule is set to be released in April. Traditionally, the Super Bowl champions are the opening night hosts, so unless the Seahawks win it themselves, their only chance of being the literal first game of the season would be the Rams, Steelers, or Eagles, and only the Rams are certain to make the playoffs.
