Around the trade deadline there was buzz that the Eagles had contacted the Jets about potentially dealing for wide receiver Robby Anderson. Manish Mehta reports Philadelphia went as high as offering a fourth round pick for the third year receiver from Temple.

Anderson is having a disappointing third NFL season. He has followed up what many believed was a breakout 2017 where he posted 63 catches for 979 yards and 7 touchdowns with only 23 catches for 368 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2018. Anderson is currently catching less than half of his targets.
The refusal of the offer suggests the Jets still view Anderson as part of their future. The team will be looking to build a steady infrastructure around Sam Darnold going forward. The Jets should be able to retain Anderson as a restricted free agent after the season.
If 2017 proves to be an outlier for Anderson’s career, and 2018 is the new normal, the Jets might regret not cashing in on the offer.
