The Los Angeles Chargers star running back Melvin Gordon has left the game following an apparent knee injury. While trying to score, Gordon tripped over offensive lineman Dan Feeney. Not only did the trip prevent him from getting into the end zone, Gordon came up limping and then went back to the ground and had to be attended to by trainers. Eventually, Gordon walked off the field under his own power and returned to the locker room for further treatment and analysis.
For now, Gordon has to be considered questionable to return. Immediately after his exit, the Chargers tried to run Austin Ekeler up the middle with no luck, though the referees did miss a rather blatant facemask penalty on the play. Following that failed play, Anthony Lynn elected to attempt a 21-yard field goal and Michael Badgley converted it for three points.
Hopefully, Gordon will be evaluated and deemed ready to return, but for now we wait.
UPDATE: Melvin Gordon is back out of the locker room.
Melvin Gordon just walked out of the tunnel and back to the Chargers sideline.
