The practice squad is here to stay.
The Philadelphia Eagles signed the final edition of their 2018 practice squad to reserve/future contracts, according to an official announcement from the team.
The group includes: linebacker Asantay Brown, center Anthony Fabiano, offensive guard Kaleb Johnson, defensive back Jeremiah McKinnon, wide receiver Braxton Miller, wide receiver Dorren Miller, defensive end Joe Ostman, running back Donnel Pumphrey, cornerback Chandon Sullivan, and tight end Will Tye.
Braxton Miller, Pumphrey, and Ostman are arguably the most intriguing names from this group of players. Miller was a third-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft and has some NFL experience. Pumphrey was looking like he might win the fourth running back job in training camp but ultimately got hurt again. Ostman received high praise from the coaching staff for simulating the likes of Khalil Mack, J.J. Watt, etc. in practice and getting the Eagles’ offensive line ready for game day.
These players are obviously long shots to be difference makers. They’ll need strong offseason performances just to have a chance at making the 2019 regular season roster. But who knows, maybe the Eagles can find a diamond in the rough from this group.
In addition to these ten players, the Eagles previously announced four future contract signings:
- WR Carlton Agudosi
- OT Tyreek Burwell
- DB Mercy Maston
- LB Alex Singleton
The Eagles have also reportedly signed former CFL wide receiver Marken Michel but the team has yet to confirm that move.
