The former Lions third-string quarterback will have a new opportunity in Miami.
Earlier in the week, we learned that Jake Rudock moved on from the Detroit Lions, not vice versa. On Friday night, we learned of Rudock’s new opportunity in the NFL. The Miami Dolphins signed the Lions’ former sixth-round pick to a futures deal.
Congrats Jake Rudock signing with the @MiamiDolphins

It’s a good landing spot for Rudock, who just couldn’t seem to get in the mix for the Lions’ backup quarterback job in his three seasons in Detroit. Miami currently only has one quarterback signed for the 2019 season—starter Ryan Tannehill. Backups Brock Osweiler and David Fales are set to become free agents in March and with an entirely new coaching staff joining the Dolphins, Rudock will get a fresh opportunity to impress and potentially reboot his NFL career.
With the Lions, Rudock one made one regular season appearance—completing 3-of-5 passes for 24 yard and an interception. In three season’s worth of preseason games, Rudock completed 65.1 percent of his passes for 5.9 yards per attempt, 10 touchdowns and two interceptions.
