Open thread: Chiefs and Colts set for snowy showdown at Arrowhead

Patrick Mahomes and Andrew Luck face off to earn a spot in the AFC championship.

The NFL divisional round kicks off this Saturday with an exciting matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts. Two of the league’s most exciting quarterbacks in Patrick Mahomes and Andrew Luck face off for what sets up to be a high-scoring offensive showcase. A snowstorm in Kansas City throws a wrench into those plans, though, and may suppress either offense.

The Chiefs are 12-4 and the AFC’s top seed. They sat out last week and will now get their potential Super Bowl run going in a home stadium that has been a fortress this season. Arrowhead has not been very kind to their home team over the years though, but Kansas City’s young stars will hope to put the franchise’s playoff woes behind them.

Indianapolis is coming off of a dominant victory over the Houston Texans on the road in the Wild Card round. One might consider this their third playoff game, as their Week 17 match up against the Tennessee Titans was a must win for both teams. The Colts have destroyed the rest of the AFC South and now hope to carry their supremacy into the AFC as a whole.

This is a rematch of a 2014 wild card game that saw the Chiefs blow one of the biggest leads in NFL history as the Colts defeated them 45-44. These two offenses and the added variable of the wild weather give this game a chance to be yet another instant classic.

Who wins? Who is the better quarterback? Is snow football good (no)?
