The Green Bay Packers may be the first team to fill their head coaching vacancy this offseason, as they are said to be closing in on a deal with Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur. ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Rob Demovsky report that the Packers are on the verge of naming LaFleur their coach and have begun informing other candidates that they have concluded their search. LaFleur is in his first season with the Titans, and he was the OC for the Los Angeles Rams under Sean McVay last season. He spent two seasons as a quarterbacks coach for the Atlanta Falcons before that. At 39, LaFleur would be yet another young, offensive-minded coach to land a head coaching job. He was a candidate for Tennessee’s head coaching job before the Titans went with Mike Vrabel last year, and he has been viewed as one of the top candidates available. While Packers fans may have preferred some of the bigger names that had been linked to their team, Green Bay’s brass must be confident in LaFleur’s ability to get the job
