It appears that USC has decided to allow Kliff Kingsbury to interview for NFL head coaching jobs, and the former Texas Tech coach reportedly had his first on Monday. According to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic, Kingsbury met with the New York Jets on Monday evening. Kingsbury recently signed a contract with USC to serve as offensive coordinator under Clay Helton, and the school was reportedly blocking him from interviewing for jobs at the NFL level. That led to some talk that Kingsbury could pay a small buyout with USC and resign, but it seems as though the Trojans have backed off. In addition to the Jets, the Arizona Cardinals are also reportedly interested in Kingsbury. If he doesn’t end up landing a head coaching job, he might have an opportunity to slide in as the offensive coordinator with one of the best teams in the NFL. It’s looking like Kingsbury’s stay at USC could wind up being a very brief one.
