One of the hottest names for the Lions OC job is off the market
While things remain awfully quiet for the Detroit Lions and their search for the next offensive coordinator, the rest of the league is starting to fill out the eight head coaching vacancies. The New York Jets are the latest team to make their decision, and it’s one that may directly affect the Lions. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets are hiring former Dolphins head coach Adam Gase.
Jets expected to hire HC Adam Gase, per me and @JeffDarlington.

Gase was rumored to be one of the Lions’ top choices among the available candidates. But it was clear from the beginning that Gase would be a hot name among several of the head coach openings across the league. Gase interviewed with several teams, and it appeared he did enough to swoon the Jets.
As for the Lions, there haven’t been any solid rumors as to who the team is pursuing or if they’ve interviewed any candidates yet. The only thing we know is that it appears offensive line coach Jeff Davidson is helping out with the search.
