The Cowboys will have decisions to make about the composition of their staff this offseason.
The season is officially over for the Dallas Cowboys and all eyes are on the 2019 season.
Many have figured that with the Miami Dolphins all but confirming that Brian Flores will be their head coach next season that Kris Richard would return to the Cowboys. If Richard returns, would that mean he’s ascended to the defensive coordinator position in title (as he’s performed many of the duties without it) or could that not be the case? Rod Marinelli is planning on returning.
Rod Marinelli intends to be back as defensive coordinator and he does NOT appreciate the question or reports otherwise.

Rod Marinelli had previously considered retiring after this season but apparently has been rejuvenated, maybe that’s the Hot Boyz effect. If he does indeed come back as the defensive coordinator that would mean that Richard is not the defensive coordinator... perhaps the two are down to re-do the setup they had this season at least once more.
The Cowboys have one of the NFL’s better defenses and Rod Marinelli is a big reason why; however, so is Kris Richard. Hopefully they’re both back but if you could only have one it’s safe to say that most fans would prefer Richard at this point.
