What the Eagles should do at wide receiver - BGN
It’ll be really interesting to see how the Eagles handle Agholor this offseason. The 2015 first-round pick is currently under contract at a $9.4 million cap figure for 2019. None of that money is currently guaranteed, though, since it’s a fifth-year team option. I really can’t see the Eagles being fine with keeping Agholor at that number. I would guess they’ll try to sign him to a team-friendly contract extension, citing Agholor’s massive struggles over his first two years as why the team can’t pay market price for him. If the Eagles and Agholor can’t agree to an extension, they might just have to move on. That would stink for the Eagles because he wouldn’t factor in to their compensatory pick formula when he signs elsewhere. Again, this is a tricky spot for the Eagles. It would be nice to not have to add slot receiver to the list of Philly’s needs this offseason but they shouldn’t overpay to keep Agholor around.

A Moment To Step Back And Appreciate Malcolm Jenkins - PE.com
Malcolm Jenkins is in Orlando, Florida at the Pro Bowl enjoying himself. Sure, there are the required practice sessions as well as the visits to the local schools and the kids, but for the most part, the experience is one to enjoy. And one that Jenkins deserves to enjoy. In a world where the negative too often takes the leading role, Jenkins is proof that the positive approach works. He has been nothing but a leader in the time since he signed with the Eagles prior to the 2014 season, keeping himself in tip-top shape with a rigorous diet, training to stay fit and withstand the extraordinary physical demands of his position, and making sure to prepare himself for the next day with a great night of sleep. Jenkins is in the Pro Bowl for the third time as an Eagle, voted as an alternate on the NFC squad and certainly just as deserving as any player on the team.
Eagles report card: Grading every offensive player’s 2018 performance - The Athletic
By just about every statistical measure, Carson Wentz was slightly above average in the 11 games he started. He ranked 12th in ANY/A, 12th in QBR and 12th in DVOA. Wentz completed 69.6 percent of his passes (third), averaged 7.7 YPA (11th) and 6.6 net yards per pass play (15th). There’s some good news and some bad news here. The good news is that even in a year where he was coming off a knee injury and dealing with a back issue, Wentz still performed slightly above average. The bad news is that he once again ended the season on the sideline, and admitted that he needs to prove he can stay healthy in December and January. I still think the future is very bright with Wentz. His accuracy improved in his third year, but the plays he can typically make outside the offense’s structure were unavailable to him because of limited mobility. I should have put more stock into the difficulty associated with coming back from a knee injury. But I don’t think this grade is too harsh. If fans would’ve been told before the season that Wentz was going to perform like the No. 12 QB in the league, most would’ve hoped for better. Next year, if Wentz is healthy, his focus should be on reducing the number of sacks he takes and giving his receivers opportunities to make more plays even if they’re not wide open.

They need to get a running back and with this organization’s hesitance to pay a lot for the position, yeah, they probably need to draft one. The last time the Eagles drafted a running back, they took Donnel Pumphrey in the fourth round. He has yet to play an NFL snap. But the Eagles haven’t drafted a running back in the first two rounds since they took LeSean McCoy in the second round back in 2009. In the years since Shady was traded, the Eagles have had four different leading rushers: DeMarco Murray, Ryan Mathews, LeGarrette Blount and Josh Adams. They definitely need some stability. Since Shady was traded, the Eagles have drafted just two running backs in six draft classes. The Eagles have drafted 42 players in the last six classes and two of them have been running backs. It’s also important to note the Eagles got Corey Clement and Josh Adams after the draft was over. But Pump and Wendell Smallwood were fourth and fifth-round round picks. I still don’t think they’ll take one in the first round, but with two second-rounders, maybe this is the year they prioritize taking one higher.

According to NFL, changes led to reduced concussions in 2018 - ESPN
The NFL says the number of concussions in games and practices dropped 23.8 percent in 2018. According to figures the league released Thursday, there were a combined 214 recorded concussions in 2018 during the preseason and regular season, compared to a record-high 281 in 2017. League executives said Thursday that they were still analyzing the data but were hopeful that their wide-ranging “call to action,” issued in response to the 2017 numbers, had put the league on a better path regarding one of the most significant challenges the league faces. ”We are pleased with the progress,” said Jeff Miller, the NFL’s executive vice president for health and safety initiatives. “It was obviously an advance for the health and safety of our players to see fewer concussions. But it is simply one step in our longer effort to continue to drive down concussion rates.” There were 538 concussion screenings in 2018. The 214 diagnosed concussions were the second-fewest since the league began releasing its data in 2012, behind the 206 reported in 2014.
Early Lines Look: Super Bowl - Rotoworld
The combination of Anderson and Gurley may be throwing some defenses off, as it’s been a very effective one-two punch. Gurley has been the more efficient back, but in four of the last five games Anderson has been terrific. Every running back struggles vs. the Saints, and Gurley has blamed his low usage on his early drops. The dynamic run game, combined with Goff’s arm and talented receivers, is why this spread is so narrow and why the total is so high. I, for one, feel like Sean McVey has been holding back the playbook. The Rams appear to be doing just enough to advance. They’re not giving much away, there’s nothing flashy, but they feel capable of more. I expect a great Super Bowl LIII, but I’m not betting against the Patriots this year ... unless the line continues to move toward New England. Early bet: Patriots -2.5 and the under.
Breaking: Chiefs hiring Steve Spagnuolo as defensive coordinator, per report - Arrowhead Pride
The change from Sutton to Spagnuolo means the Chiefs will in all likelihood be switching to a 4-3 base, which makes you wonder if a move like this was in the cards all along. The marquee signing of inside linebacker Anthony Hitchens, as well as draft picks like Breeland Speaks and Dorian O’Daniel are seen as better fits in a 4-3 scheme. As Craig noted, statistical success has mostly eluded Spagnuolo—he produced only two top-10 units in nine seasons as either a head coach or a defensive coordinator, but in 2016, the Giants were ranked No. 10 in yards allowed and No. 2 in points allowed, so it is not all bad. If anything, his blitz-heavy, 4-3 scheme will be the complete opposite of Bob Sutton’s tendencies, which is exactly what many Chiefs fans have been longing for.
