Anthony Lynn finishes second in Coach of the Year voting

The Chicago Bears’ first-year head coach, Matt Nagy, ran away with Coach of the Year award, but the Los Angeles Chargers’ own Anthony Lynn came in second in the voting. Around the NFL reported the voting results via Twitter

There was little surprise in the results with the Indianapolis Colts’ Frank Reich, Kansas City Chiefs’ Andy Reid, Seattle Seahawks’ Pete Carroll, and New Orleans Saints’ Sean Payton also receiving votes. It was perhaps somewhat interesting that neither of the coaches competing in tomorrow’s Super Bowl, Sean McVay and Bill Belichick, received any votes.

Anthony Lynn had an amazing season in his second year as head coach of the Chargers, tying the Chiefs for the best record in the AFC and overseeing both a top-10 offense and top-10 defense. He also appears to have made inroads into changing the losing culture of the franchise with incredible comeback victories on the road against Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs along the way.

There is an argument to be made that Lynn deserved the award over Nagy, but coming in second in the voting is still nice to see as a fan of Lynn and the Chargers.
