The Broncos running back started a GoFundMe to help raise money for the local Air Force veteran.
Phillip Lindsay continues to amaze and impress — on the field and off.
Something tells me this will remain a trend throughout his tenure with the Denver Broncos. The running back is what I call a “Pat Bowlen Bronco.” In light of the beloved owner getting his induction in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, it’s all the more fitting.
When the Denver Pitbull was unleashed (Broncos Country needs this shirt), it wasn’t just about what he was doing on the field. It was about all of it. The latest example of the latter came this week when Lindsay let it be known his efforts to help an Air Force veteran.
The Denver Channel had the original story of Les Thomas, who is not only fighting Stage 5 chronic kidney disease but also being evicted by his landlord for missing his rent payments because he was in the hospital getting treatment. As the Denver Channel noted, Thomas claims that while he was receiving inpatient care at the Aurora VA hospital for two weeks in January, his landlord put a notice to vacate on his door. A judge gave him until Friday, Feb. 8 to move out.
“I have no family, no one to help me,” he said through tears to the Denver Channel.

On Wednesday, Lindsay sent a tweet with a link to a GoFundMe to help Thomas.
“Please join in me in helping! I saw this story last night about a CO Air Force Veteran dealing with a kidney disease and facing eviction. I immediately felt a connection to Les Thomas and knew that I wanted to do whatever I could to help!”
The GoFundMe has since raised a little over $19k (as of the writing of this story). On Friday, the GoFundMe that was created to help get Lindsay to the Pro Bowl after his wrist injury was changed to give the money to Thomas. That sits at $4,853.
The Denver Channel said in its most recent story on Thursday, “The money wouldn’t change the fact that his eviction was coming. He had to move out by Friday, February 8 and was back in the hospital likely through that date.
“That’s when Contact7 made a phone call. A moving truck from All My Sons Moving & Storage showed up at Thomas’ door on Thursday morning.”
The story adds that Thomas won’t be spending the weekend in his townhome, but he will have a roof over his head thanks to a friend from Iowa and another friend from a local political group.
“I asked for the miracle and I got it thanks to Channel 7,” Thomas told the Denver Channel.
