Ravens News 2/10: Leadership, Draft prospects with red flags, one RB prospect not to be forgotten and more!

To the Ravens news...

Eisenberg: What Is the Value of Football Wisdom? - Baltimore Ravens

The stereotypical image for a top-ranked defense is a snarling beast that breathes fire and leaves a path of destruction in its wake.

The Ravens’ 2018 defense, which finished with a No. 1 ranking, certainly brought such a creature to mind at times. The Tennessee Titans have some stories to tell.

But while Defensive Coordinator Don (Wink) Martindale’s unit could punish opponents, I would submit that other qualities besides its physicality were just as integral to its success.

There was, for instance, the chemistry. The Ravens all but oozed that intangible on defense in 2018. The players got along well off the field and performed well together during games. They liked playing with each other, which can’t always be said in the NFL.

Don’t Forget about Rodney Anderson - The Draft Network

Anderson is a 6-foot-1, 220-pound power back. Everything in his analysis as a player should start there. Don’t treat him like a one-cut back or something like that. He is a power back. Once you identify him correctly, then you can see other traits in his game that should really make him stand out — things not many power backs can do.

NFL Draft Prospects with the Biggest Red Flags - Bleacher Report

Montez Sweat, DE, Mississippi State

After barely playing in 2014 and redshirting in 2015 at Michigan State, Sweat left the Spartans in April of 2016 for what were deemed “personal reasons.”

However, per Mike Griffith of MLive, Sweat ran into disciplinary issues at Michigan State, including a lengthy (albeit unspecified) suspension.

By all indications, Sweat has kept his nose clean over the last couple of years. But before an NFL team invests tens of millions of dollars in Sweat, you can bet the rent they will both want to know exactly what happened and receive assurances that his disciplinary problems are behind him.
