Under-the-Radar Ravens Roster Decisions Remaining - Baltimore Ravens
Tender Alex Collins? At What Level?
Running back Alex Collins was one of the best stories in the NFL in 2017, when he emerged from the Seattle Seahawks’ scrap heap to become the Ravens’ lead back who nearly Irish danced his way to 1,000 yards. Collins was determined to follow it up with another strong campaign, but that didn’t materialize. While he still found the end zone eight times and started 10 games, his average yards per carry went from 4.6 in 2017 to 3.6 in 2018.

Linebacker C.J. Mosley
New Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta wouldn’t deny that the tag is in play for Mosley. It’s just not very practical. Using the projected $15 million tag on Mosley would eat up more than half of Baltimore’s available cap space. Mosley is the leading tackler for the NFL’s top-ranked defense and he’s one of the core leaders on the team. But there could be debate whether Mosley deserves to be the highest-paid middle linebacker in the game. Asked if the Ravens would consider the tag for Mosley, DeCosta said, “I think everything is on the table right now. I certainly hope that C.J. is back. I believe in my heart that he will be.”
Prediction: The Ravens won’t put the franchise tag on Mosley, but they will end up retaining him in free agency. All sides are optimistic about getting a deal done. -- Jamison Hensley

Ravens move up to No. 32 to take Lamar Jackson
RAVENS: A+. No one knows what the future holds for Jackson, who must hone his fundamentals and motion, but no one could have asked for anything more than what he did. Baltimore had to get a QB in 2018, and did, and with Flacco hurt again and the team stumbling at 4-5 and lacking any real weapons on offense, the rookie came in and saved the season and likely jobs as well. He went 6-1, turning the Ravens from the second-worst rushing team in the league into the best, putting them top-eight in yards from scrimmage since he took over and losing only at Arrowhead, in OT. He led the Ravens to a most-improbable division crown. Only Mayfield had a similar immediate impact. Coupled with a smart, uber-cheap signing of Robert Griffin III and now getting a fourth-rounder for Flacco, who they would have cut otherwise, the Ravens and Browns best worked the QB position this past year.
