Raiders need speed and Ross has that in spades.
The first NFL prospects arrived in Indianapolis Tuesday for the 2019 scouting combine. Before any of them take the field or even sit down for interviews, NFL brass are wheeling and dealing with each other. Apparently a recent combine star is part of those conversations.
John Ross lit up the 2017 combine with a blistering 4.21 40-yard-dash, raising his draft stock to get him selected with the 9th overall pick by the Bengals. Now two years later, it would appear the Bengals have some buyer’s remorse as they are offering him up in a trade according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Two years ago, top WR prospect John Ross set fire to the Combine with his 40 time. Now, sources say the #Bengals are shopping their former first rounder. A fresh start would be welcome by both parties, sounds like.

The 5-11, 190-pound burner hasn’t done much as a wide receiver in the NFL. He had zero catches as a rookie, landing on IR after just three appearances. Despite ten starts in 13 games last season, he had just 21 catches for 210 yards. Though he managed 7 touchdowns. A touchdown every three catches is pretty impressive.
Ross’s senior season at Washington, he also had a way of finding the end zone. He had 17 catches that season with 81 catches for 1150 yards.
Clearly the team and the player aren’t happy. Ross doesn’t have much in the way of production but could a fresh start be just what he needs?. The Raiders could certainly use a deep threat. The question is what he would be worth.
