Whose Combine performance is most relevant to the Lions?

Which NFL Draft prospect should Lions fans be paying attention to at the NFL Combine this week?

When it comes to the NFL Combine, there’s so much data to parse through it can be a little overwhelming at first. 40-yard dash times are the easiest to consume but not always the most relevant of stats depending on the position.

Additionally, there are over 300 players expected to work out this week in Indianapolis. While we’d all like to pretend we have the time and wherewithal to keep track of every single draft prospect, it makes more sense to manage your time by focusing on the draft prospects both relevant to the Lions’ needs and who need a good performance this week.

So today’s Question of the Day is:

Who are you most interested to see perform at the NFL Combine?

My answer: Clemson DE Clelin Ferrell.

Ferrell has been one of the more common players mocked to the Lions recently, and, frankly, I just don’t see it. He doesn’t seem to possess the athleticism nor bend to be the elite pass rusher that would be worth the eighth overall pick. However, if Ferrell performs well this week—particularly at the 3-cone drill—it would force me to go back to his film and see if I’m missing anything.

To me, that’s what the NFL Combine is all about. Either confirming what you thought you already knew about a draft prospect or forcing you to reconsider some of your preconceived notions about the player. Ferrell is a guy I’m not sold on, but he could do wonders this week with a good workout.

Your turn.
