The former collegiate star turned Pro Football Focus analyst has been hired to work with Jared Goff and the Rams’ QBs.
In an unprecedented swap of Zacs, Zac Robinson will be join the Los Angeles Rams’ coaching staff under Head Coach Sean McVay to become the new assistant QB coach replacing Zac Taylor who was recently named head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Sean McVay is hiring Zac Robinson as Zac Taylor’s successor in LA and the Rams’ new assistant QB coach, per source. Robinson is a former NFL practice squad QB, PFF analyst, and QB trainer. The two finalists were him and former NFL QB Bruce Gradkowski.

Robinson was most recently a senior analyst at Pro Football Focus in addition to being a quarterback consultant. His current gigs make it simple to find footage of him analyzing quarterbacks, so we can get to know Robinson fairly easily. Here he is breaking the Rams play action pass game:
Here’s a clip of Robinson discussing New York Jets QB Sam Darnold.
Robinson played college ball at Oklahoma State where he teamed up with Dez Bryant and appeared in several bowl games. He was the 2007 Insight Bowl MVP, in which Oklahoma State defeated the Indiana Hoosiers 49-33. As a pro, he was largely a practice squad quarterback for the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions and Bengals. He’ll assist Quarterbacks Coach/Passing Game Coordinator/Co-Offensive Coordinator Shane Waldron who took over as QB coach after handing tight end coach duties to Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips’ son, Wes.
It’s an interesting hire. Who knows, maybe Robinson will ascend as quickly as other McVay sidekicks have. If QB Jared Goff is able to continue developing under Robinson’s tutelage, there’s no doubt that his name will soon be thrown about for possible promotions across the league.
A BIG congratulations to our QB, Zac Robinson, on his new job with the Rams. pic.twitter.com/oc9O3uuxbk
