The most athletic and physically gifted player at every position in the 2019 draft.
Yesterday the combine wrapped up and the NFL teams will spend the next couple months crunching the numbers and figuring out how to factor that in with what they saw on tape. But this isn’t about what these players did on tape. This is about raw numbers. That means what we saw on the field in Indianapolis in those areas you can’t teach – size and athletic abilities.
Those criteria seemed to be more of a factor for Al Davis than any other owner or GM in NFL history. That’s why this team bears his name. Here they are
Quarterback
Drew Lock, Missouri
When it comes to the quarterback position, 40 time was not what matters. It’s size and arm strength. The best arm in this draft belongs to Lock. For what it’s worth, Lock also had a respectable 4.69 40-yard dash.
Running backs
Justice Hill, Oklahoma State
Hill dominated his position at the combine. He had the best 40 (4.40), vertical (40.0), and broad jump (10’10”).
Miles Sanders, Penn State
When it comes to running backs, no drill is more indicative of their talent than the 3-cone drill. Sanders had the best 3-cone among running backs (6.89).
Wide receivers
D.K. Metcalf, Ole Miss
This guy is a physical freak if there ever was one. He looks like a damn super hero without his shirt off and has a reported 1.9% body fat. He didn’t have the top 40, but 4.33 is still damn fast. He also was tied for the most bench press reps (27), third highest vertical (40.5), and 5th highest broad jump (11’2”).
Parris Campbell, Ohio State
Gotta get the top 40 time on this team. Technically he tied for the top 40 among wideouts with Any Isabella. But Parris also tied for the fastest 20-yard shuttle (4.03), had the third longest broad jump (11’3”), and the fifth highest vertical (40.0).
Tight end
Noah Fant, Iowa State
Fant is basically a wide receiver in a tight end’s body. He had a tight end best 40-yard dash (4.50), vertical jump (39.5), broad jump (10’7”), 3-cone drill (6.81), and 60-yard shuttle (11.49). The only events he didn’t dominate were the bench press and the 20-yard shuttle.
Offensive tackle
Joshua Miles, Morgan State
Miles’s 36-inch vertical is the best at the combine by an offensive lineman since at least 2006. Jared Veldeer had a top ten vertical of 33.5.
Andre Dillard, Washington State
He had the best broad jump (9’10”) and 20-yard shuttle (4.40), the second best 3-cone (7.44), and the 4th best 40 (4.96). The only offensive lineman to have a better broad jump since 2006 was Raiders top pick in 2017 Kolton Miller.
Offensive guard
Iosua Opeta, Weber State
Blew away the field with 39 reps on the bench press, best vertical among guards (33.0). He also had the 5th best 40 (5.02), and 4th best vertical (33.0).
Chris Lindstrom, Boston College
He had the second fastest 40 (4.91), and second longest broad jump (9’9”).
Center
Garrett Bradbury, NC State
He had the fastest 3-cone (7.41) which shows he has nimble feet. He also had the second most reps on the bench press (34), third fastest 40-yard dash (4.92) and fifth fastest 20-yard shuttle (4.53).
