CB Kevin Johnson signing with Bills, per report

The Bills are adding depth at cornerback

The Buffalo Bills have added depth at cornerback in free agency, as the club is reportedly signing former Houston Texans cornerback Kevin Johnson. A former first-round pick, Johnson was selected 16th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Wake Forest.

Johnson was released by the Texans last week, after struggling with a number of injuries over the past three season. Johnson’s signing doesn’t factor into the compensatory pick formula, because of his status as a released free agent. Injuries kept him off the field for all but one game in 2018 after suffering numerous concussions. Once the signing is complete in Buffalo, Johnson would provide immediate depth and competition for Levi Wallace at cornerback.

While in Houston, Johnson played for John Butler, who is the currently the secondary coach for the Bills. Butler was the secondary coach in Houston for Johnson’s first three seasons, and it would be somewhat of a reunion should the free-agent corner sign with the Bills. Johnson’s rookie season was his best season, with an interception and nine passes defended.
