Contract numbers for wide receiver John Brown

The Buffalo Bills tried, unsuccessfully, to sign wide receiver John Brown last year. One year later they tried again, and John Brown is now a member of the Buffalo Bills.

On the free-agent contract agreed to today, John Brown will earn a solid $10.7 million in 2019 cash (with $10.2 million essentially guaranteed as of today) and sizable cash of $8.15 million in 2020 and 2021. However, with the contract numbers flying around this week (and presumably another significant cap increase in 2020) these numbers will be well worth it if Brown performs. If Brown does not perform, like Cole Beasley, this is another deal that the Bills can get out of with limited pain after one year.

With the full contract numbers reported by Aaron Wilson, let’s break down what is another high upside, relatively low-risk signing by Brandon Beane.
