Daniel Jeremiah mock draft 2.0 has Kyler Murray number one overall, elite edge rush prospect to Raiders at four

With the combine behind us, the mock drafts start to get real interesting. Many combine (so to speak) what was seen from the prospects on the field and what was heard around the halls. With the departure of Mike Mayock to become the Raiders GM, Daniel Jeremiah has taken the reins as the lead draft analyst for NFL Network. He has put out his second mock draft and the shakeup at the top is interesting.

1. Arizona CardinalsKyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma

(He predicts the Cardinals trade Josh Rosen who they traded up with the Raiders in last year’s first round to get.)

2. San Francisco 49ersNick Bosa, ED, Ohio State

3. New York JetsQuinnen Williams, DT, Alabama

4. Oakland Raiders — Josh Allen, ED, Kentucky

The Raiders have needs all over the field, but none more important than their pass rush. Allen fits the bill.

So, with the Cardinals going away from pass rusher, and the Jets going with the big man in he middle, the Raiders land the second best pass rush prospect in this draft.

24. Oakland Raiders — Cody Ford, G, Oklahoma

We’ll see what the Raiders decide to do with cut candidate Kelechi Osemele. Ford would be able to plug and play at guard.

Sounds like Jeremiah is flat out predicting the Raiders cut Osemele. This seems like a silly move. Cut your top guard and then spend a top pick to replace him. He has TE TJ Hockenson going with the pick just before this. A more important replacement for a lost player would be that of Jared Cook who is testing free agency.

27. Oakland Raiders — Byron Murphy, CB, Washington

Murphy had the best field workout of any of the corners at the combine. I love his toughness and ball skills.

Murphy isn’t just a workout warrior either. He jumps out on tape. Saw him in person at the Pack-12 Championship and he was the best player on the field. This would be a tremendous pick.

Players still available late in the first round who would be good picks include ED Clelin Ferrell (32), WR N’Keal Harry (26), S Nasir Adderley (28), and S Taylor Rapp (29).
