James Palmer joined 1st & 10 at 10 to talk about the combine.
The eyes of the NFL are on Indianapolis, and the NFL Combine. While everyone was focused on how tall Kyler Murray is, James Palmer sat down with the guys on 1st and 10 at 10 on Orange and Blue 760. Murray holds all the hype, but Dwayne Haskins might be the best fit in Denver.
When Palmer sat down with Ryan Edwards, Steve Atwater, and Andrew Mason, he pointed out that Haskins is the QB that fits what John Elway is looking for more than any other QB in the 2019 draft. For some fans that might scream, “NOOOO,” but Haskins looks like he is the best QB in the draft.
All the Kyler Murray hype aside, Haskins looks like he will be the first QB off the board. That puts him out of the Broncos reach, but perhaps their plan is to look beyond 2019 for a QB. If they are looking to 2020, it will take some accumulating draft capital to ensure the ability to trade up for the player they want.
That is not to say there aren’t players the Broncos would be happy to have in the upcoming season. Palmer thinks the 2019 draft has several offensive lineman that could impact the Broncos immediately. He believes in Mike Munchak’s ability as coach. Offensive line is a huge need for Denver, and this draft could be the best way for the team to improve.
The Broncos could go in any direction in the 2019 draft. Whether they target a QB, CB, ILB, or trade back to gain draft capital, it will certainly be interesting to watch. What do you want the Broncos to do in the 2019 draft?
