NFL likely to pass significant instant replay rule change, per report

Those hoping to avoid a repeat of last season’s NFC Championship Game could very well be on the verge of a victory. With the NFL’s 32 teams in Arizona for their annual meeting, rule changes are being discussed in a big way. The hope here was that the NFL would expand its instant replay system to include non-calls on pass interference. At the very least, the league is nearing an agreement to include this specific replay in the final two minutes of each half. ESPN’s Adam Schefter goes on to note that a final vote is expected to pass the rule change later Tuesday evening. This is significant in that if these rules were in place last season, the New Orleans Saints would have likely taken on the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LIII. Instead, a bad non-call going in the Los Angeles Rams’ favor during the NFC Championship Game sent New Orleans packing for the winter.
