Ranking the top-five interior offensive linemen in the 2019 NFL Draft by run-blocking grade - Austin Gayle
Buffalo’s James O’Hagan is flying under the radar in the 2019 class coming out of the MAC’s University of Buffalo, but his 2018 grades and advanced stats are quite impressive. He ranked second behind Benzschawel in run-blocking grade at 88.3 in 2018, and his 17.59% positively-graded run-block percentage ranked third among qualifying FBS centers.

Henry, meanwhile, might not have quite that ceiling. The Chargers attempted roughly 80% as many passes as the Buccaneers in 2018 (512 to 625), and while Philip Rivers has had a history of success throwing to Gates, that has typically come when the Chargers have been shallow at wide receiver. With Keenan Allen and Mike Williams around, Henry has a strong ceiling, but not a “vintage Antonio Gates” ceiling.

“I want to be of any assistance -- anything that I can do to help the team achieve that goal, I’m definitely for it. … There are a bunch of guys that play for one another. There’s not a bunch of selfish egos on this roster. I think that’s where you start as far as building a Super Bowl team.”

Kansas State’s Dalton Risner paved the way for Alex Barnes & Co. at an unparalleled level in 2018, earning the top run-blocking grade (85.4) among qualifying tackles in this year’s class. He also earned the fifth-highest positive run-block percentage (14.74%) and the seventh-lowest negative run-block percentage (5.44%) among all FBS tackles with 200 or more run-blocking snaps.

Chuma Edoga, an athletic freak and USC’s primary right tackle for each of the past two seasons, allowed just four hurries across 304 pass-blocking snaps in 2018. With no sacks or hits allowed tied to his name, the 6-foot-3, 308-pound Edoga ranked tied for first in PFF’s pass-blocking efficiency (99.3).
