POLL: Do you believe Bob Quinn wants to trade down?

How much do you believe of what Bob Quinn has said?

We’re less than a week from the first round of the NFL Draft, and Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn just hasn’t been able to contain himself. Over the past few weeks, Quinn has made it abundantly clear that he’d love to trade down from the No. 8 spot in the first round.

First, he spilled the beans on Ian Rapoport’s podcast, letting the world know Detroit was “open for business” for a trade. Then this week, when asked if he would be interested in trading up, he made it a point to say he’d much rather trade down.

But, as a reminder, we’re less than a week from the draft. It’s smokescreen season, and to hear a general manager be so open about his draft intentions is odd and shouldn’t be trusted.

So today’s Question of the Day is simple:

Do you trust Bob Quinn when he says that he wants to trade down from the Detroit Lions’ eighth overall pick?

My answer: I actually do. And it’s not because I think Quinn is always truthful with the media. If he was, he wouldn’t be doing his job properly.

However, this is a mantra that Quinn has repeated a few times. Last year, Quinn talked about his desire to trade down.

“I’m always in the business of getting more draft picks,” Quinn said almost exactly a year ago.

And when you consider that Quinn comes from the Patriots tree, where trading down is an art, you have to believe there is at least some truth to Quinn’s statements over the past month.

That being said, Quinn hasn’t actually traded down much in his three drafts. In fact, he’s only done it once, moving down 11 spots in the 2017 draft to grab Kenny Golladay and an additional fourth-round pick (Jalen Reeves-Maybin).

Maybe this is the year he finally lives up to his word.

Your turn.
