The running back won’t be participating in practice until July.
One player who won’t be participating in the Eagles’ offseason workout program is running back Josh Adams, according to a report from BGN alumnus Mike Kaye of NJ.com.
Following his rookie season, Adams reportedly underwent labrum surgery following the loss to New Orleans in January, and is expected to be sidelined for about six months. Adams is now the second running back recovering this offseason, with Corey Clement coming off a season-ending knee injury.
Adams showed some flashes and actually led the Eagles in rushing after being promoted from the practice squad in Week 2, ultimately getting five starts by the end of the year. He had 120 carries for 511 yards and three touchdowns, although his production slowed a bit later in the season, he was often the go-to back when he had the hot hand.
With Clement, and now Adams, sidelined for the offseason program, the Eagles will have Wendell Smallwood, Donnel Pumphrey, Boston Scott and newly acquired Jordan Howard to work with. Darren Sproles isn’t expected to make his decision regarding retirement until after the draft later this month.
[BLG Note: Adams also missed the entirety of last offseason’s workout program due to injury. Not the best development for him when he’s already not a lock to make this year’s 53-man roster.]
