With the 56th pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, the Bears select Anthony Miller

Bears’ fans, don’t forget about dynamic wide out Anthony Miller whom they moved up for in last year’s draft.

After we dropped the Khalil Mack look-back yesterday, you guys knew this one was coming right?

A year ago, Chicago Bears’ general manager Ryan Pace did what he does, aggressively go up and get his guy in the draft. Memphis wide receiver Anthony Miller was a favorite of most of us writers at WCG, and he was a popular player to discuss on our boards as well, so when Pace pulled the trigger, we were all pretty happy.

As a reminder, here’s what the Bears sent to the New England Patriots to move up in last year’s draft.

The Bears sent their 2019 second-round pick, plus their fourth-rounder from 2018, for New England’s 51st overall pick in 2018 and the right to draft Miller.

The Patriots picked Wisconsin cornerback Nick Nelson with that 4th (105th overall) a year ago, and Nelson started three of the ten games he played in.

Miller led the Bears in touchdown catches as a rookie (7), and his 33 receptions for 423 yards both ranked fifth on the team. He did all that while playing through a shoulder injury that required offseason surgery. “Every time I tried to stiff arm, it would come out, or if I ran kind of crazy, it would come out,” Miller told the Chicago Tribune earlier this month. “Really I was playing games with like one arm, making it happen. This year I’ve got two, so watch out.”

The Bears are expected to have him at full strength at some point this offseason as he readies himself for a breakthrough year.
