Arizona Cardinals announce signing of five additional 2019 NFL Draft picks

The Arizona Cardinals announced the signing of six of their 11 draft picks from the 2019 NFL Draft, including their first overall pick, Kyler Murray.

In addition, the Cardinals have signed the following five 2019 NFL Draft choices to four-year contracts:

Cornerback BYRON MURPHY (2nd round, 33rd overall) from Washington

Defensive lineman ZACH ALLEN (3rd round, 65th overall) from Boston College

Wide receiver KEESEAN JOHNSON (6th round, 174th overall) from Fresno State

Offensive lineman JOSH MILES (7th round, 248th overall) from Morgan State

Tight end CALEB WILSON (7th round, 254th overall) from UCLA

From the team:

Murphy (5-11, 190) started all 20 games he played in the past two seasons at Washington and had 74 tackles, seven interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 27 passes defensed, seven tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and a sack. A Scottsdale, AZ native who attended Saguaro High School, Murphy started all 14 games last season for the Huskies and was named a first-team All-American after recording 58 tackles, four interceptions, four tackles for loss, 17 passes defensed and a forced fumble for the Pac-12 champions. He also was named first-team All-Pac 12 and was selected as the MVP of the Pac-12 Championship game in Washington’s win over Utah.

Allen (6-5, 285) played in 50 career games (26 starts) and had 18.5 sacks, 199 tackles, 40.5 tackles for loss, 16 passes defensed, four fumble recoveries, two interceptions and two blocked kicks at Boston College. As a senior in 2018, he had a career-high 6.5 sacks after having 6.0 sacks each year as a junior and sophomore. He started his final 25 games at BC, including all 12 contests last season when he had 61 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and a career-high eight passes defensed. As a junior in 2017, Allen had 100 tackles, finishing the season as one of two defensive linemen in the country with 100+ tackles.

Johnson (6-1, 201) is Fresno State’s all-time leader in receptions (275) and receiving yards (3,463) while also catching 24 touchdown passes in 52 career games. He led the Bulldogs in all receiving categories in each of his three final seasons and finished his collegiate career by catching at least one pass in 50 consecutive games, a school and conference record and the longest streak in the country. As a senior in 2018, Johnson started all 14 games and had the fourth-most receptions (95) and sixth-most receiving yards (1,340) among FBS players while also catching eight touchdown passes. He averaged 13.2 yards per reception as a junior in 2017 and 14.1 yards per catch as a senior in 2018.

Miles (6-6, 310) played in 31 games (29 starts) at Morgan State where he was a three-year starter on the offensive line. An All-MEAC selection at left tackle as a senior in 2018, Miles started all 11 games and allowed just one sack last year on his way to becoming the first Morgan State player ever invited to the East-West Shrine game. A native of Baltimore, MD, Miles served as a team captain for the Bears last season and was named MEAC Offensive Lineman of the Week three times as a senior.

Wilson (6-4, 240) led all tight ends in the NCAA FBS last season in receiving yards (965) and receptions per game (5.0) after catching 60 passes with four touchdowns. His 60 receptions and 965 yards in 2018 led UCLA and were the most by a tight end in school history. Wilson was named a second-team All-American and earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors last season while also earning honorable mention All-Pac-12 academic honors. He finished his collegiate career with 114 receptions for 1,675 yards and five touchdowns in 29 career games (17 starts).
