Bengals News (5/13): Undrafted free agents fighting for their spots

Rookie minicamp is an undrafted rookie’s first chance to make an impression. Hear from a couple of players trying to beat the odds.

Morgan Follows Chad On His Way To NFL Shot
Stanley Morgan, who already followed Chad Johnson a few years before Twitter and The Ocho, also knew he wanted to play in the NFL before he went to the game that day when he was ten years old and his youth football camp got on the field before Johnson’s Bengals played his Saints. But after standing in front of Johnson during the national anthem under the dome in New Orleans, he really knew he wanted to make it.

Dolphins sign former Bengals RB Mark Walton despite offseason arrests
Walton was the Bengals' fourth-round pick in 2018. He played sparingly as a rookie, carrying 14 times for 34 yards and catching five passes for an additional 41 yards. He was released earlier this offseason after being arrested for the third time in three months.

Bengals projected to have no compensatory draft picks in 2020
Lance Zierlein of NFL.com has now somewhat confirmed this by projecting 2020 comp picks and listing the Bengals as a team not expected to receive any. He explained the process:

Cincinnati Bengals: Tyree Kinnel eager to compete for job
The Wayne High School graduate and former University of Michigan safety got three or four calls almost immediately from teams interested in signing him as an undrafted college free agent. The Cincinnati Bengals – just 50 minutes south of his hometown – were one of them, and the two parties quickly struck a deal.

Cincinnati Bengals: Why Tyler Boyd should help elevate A.J. Green?
In 2018, Bengals star receiver A.J. Green only played nine games due to a toe injury. Green is scheduled to be healthy and ready for training camp per Adam Schefter. But a healthy A.J. Green can be even more effective if Tyler Boyd can continue his good word at wide receiver.

Eagles re-sign veteran guard Stefen Wisniewski
Wisniewski started seven games for the Eagles in 2018 on an injury-ravaged offensive line. The guard has started at least six games in each of his three seasons in Philly, including all three playoff games during the Eagles' Super Bowl run two years ago.

McCaffrey aims to be 'way stronger' than last season
"To me, speed kills," McCaffrey said. "And the league is changing now, especially at the running back position, to where the faster you are, the more dynamic you are, not only with the ball in your hands, but running routes and being able to break tackles. That all has to do with speed.

Bears' Mike Davis buys mom a house on Mother's Day
"Happy Mother's Day Mom, I love you so much," Davis wrote on Instagram. "I remember when I was younger, we moved every year to a new place. Days you didn't eat but made sure we ate. I love you. Enjoy your house. (BTW I did cry but nobody got it on camera, Thank God)"

Fangio: Joe Flacco will get all 1st-team reps in OTAs
"Joe [Flacco] will take all of the reps with the first team," Fangio said, via team transcripts, when asked how quarterback reps would be handled during organized team activities. "Then we have an open competition after that and we'll randomly play those with the twos and the threes when we do our reps."

Steelers ink first-round LB Devin Bush to contract
Pittsburgh traded up on draft night to select the Michigan linebacker at No. 10, sending its first and second round picks in 2019 and a 2020 third-rounder to the Denver Broncos. The Steelers had not picked higher than No. 10 since choosing Plaxico Burress with the eight overall pick in 2000.
