Bengals News (5/9): Looking at how the new staff works together

Follow a behind the scenes look at the new staff that is molding the new way the Bengals do things on the field.

In The Situation Room
While the Bengals rookies prepare to take the field for the first time Friday and Saturday, new head coach Zac Taylor’s quarterback-laced offensive staff quietly continues to grind out its first playbook with brainpower ranging from the 2006 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year plaque to usurping Hall-of-Famer Dan Marino's milestone to Division III’s The Cortaca Jug.

Sam Hubbard loves ‘new attitude’ Zac Taylor’s staff brings to Bengals
“I’ve got about a month or so under my belt working with them, and it’s pretty similar to what I was used to at Ohio State,” Hubbard said, according to Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors. “The energy they’ve brought in and the new attitude, the winning culture they’re trying to create, I love every minute of it.”

Cincinnati Bengals vision revealed with 2019 NFL Draft class
The Cincinnati Bengals didn’t have the “best player available” luxury of their AFC North counterparts. Heading into a bit of a rebuild with a new head coach, the Bengals attacked the draft by filling roster holes while planning for the future. The draft class also reveals what Zac Taylor has planned for the team heading into 2019. Here’s a look at each Cincinnati draft pick and what it means to the Bengals.

2019 Post-Draft Cincinnati Bengals Roster Projection, Part 1
The Bengals surprised very few by taking a quarterback in this year’s draft. The surprising aspect was the fact that they passed over Dwayne Haskins and decided to trade up for Ryan Finley in the fourth round. What’s to be decided is whether or not Andy Dalton is the quarterback of the future. If not, is it Finley? Or are they deciding to #TankForTua or #FailForFromm and get a franchise quarterback in the 2020 draft. A player to watch out for would be Jeff Driskel. The Bengals may choose to go with three quarterbacks for depth considering Dalton’s recent injury record.

Deonte Harris chooses Saints over Bengals in undrafted free agency
One player the Bengals apparently targeted was wide receiver Deonte Harris out of Assumption College, but the return specialist instead chose to sign with the New Orleans Saints.

Pass rusher Ziggy Ansah signing with Seahawks
The Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints also had interest in Ansah, but the Seahawks emerged as the front-runner on Wednesday.

Benjamin Watson intends to unretire, visit Patriots
A potential signing in New England would reunite Watson with head coach Bill Belichick. The Patriots originally selected Watson as a first-round pick in the 2004 draft and he played six seasons in New England before leaving after the 2009 season.

Richard Sherman '100 percent good' with secondary
San Francisco didn't alter the defensive coverage too much during the offseason, and the lone big-name addition to bolster the pass rush came in the form of cornerback Jason Verrett, who signed a one-year deal during free agency.
