There’s few things rabid football fans enjoy more than predicting the draft. So, every year we hold a contest. But we wouldn’t just ask the fans to submit their picks without putting ourselves out there as well. So, before we get to the fan results, let’s look at how the staff did with their picks.
Mine had trades, though after a trade down I had Clelin Ferrell as the Raiders top pick. Evan got Foster Moreau within a pick late and Tyler Green got Josh Jacobs in the first round, but at 27. BD got Hunter Renfrow, but with the last pick. Thomas Wheaton got Maxx Crosby, albeit later in the draft than he went. So, five of the eight got one pick correct. Not bad.
Now we get to the fans. I got 167 submissions. Of those 111 got at least one correct pick. Of those 27 got at least one correct pick in the correct round.
The rules of the contest were that to win, you must correctly pick at least two of the Raiders’ selections. 16 people did that. Of those, 11 had at least one of those picks at the correct spot (I gave some forgiveness late due to the trades).
But only one person got three correct picks — centergroveraiders who correctly picked the Raiders three first round picks, with Johnathan Abram in the correct spot. So, that’s our winner with the bragging rights and T-shirt that come with it.
A close second is I Bleed Silver & Mack who nailed the Raiders top two picks of Ferrell Jacobs in the correct spots followed by Craig who got Jacobs in the correct spot and Hunter Renfrow later. He predicted Renfrow as a 7th rounder, but Renfrow was in the fifth with just one more pick afterward, so that’s pretty close.
There were quite a few great predictions. The most commonly predicted picks were Ferrell, Jacobs, and Renfrow.
Here is the entire leaderboard
Others who nailed a player the Raiders predicted, but who didn’t make our leader board include The Snake 76 and King Coram who got Isaiah Johnson in round 4 and Devi Lamien (cute) who got Trayvon Mullen in round two.
Thanks again to all the submissions.
