Two former Eagles players find new NFL landing spots

Out of work no longer.

Two former Philadelphia Eagles players signed with new teams on Monday. Linebacker LaRoy Reynolds inked with the San Francisco 49ers. Cornerback Chandon Sullivan, meanwhile, joined the Green Bay Packers.

The Eagles signed Reynolds to a one-year contract around this time last year. Here’s what I wrote about him in our linebacker position review series back in February:

Regular season stats: 5 defensive snaps, 358 special teams snaps

Review: The Eagles signed Reynolds in mid-May. He won a spot on the roster as a backup linebacker/special teams contributor. He brought energy to Dave Fipp’s unit but he was also overzealous at times, finishing the season with three penalties.

Outlook: Reynolds is going to be a free agent. It wouldn’t hurt to bring him back on a minimum deal but it’s not like there’s a rush to do so, either.

Reynolds likely won’t benefit the Eagles’ compensatory pick formula. I imagine the 49ers signed him to a veteran minimum contract. (It’d be nice to be wrong about that.)

As for Sullivan, he definitely won’t be impacting the comp pick formula because the Eagles released him last week. I was a little surprised to see Philly move on from him since he flashed potential at times last summer but the Eagles needed to clear some roster space for new undrafted free agent signings. The Packers felt like Sullivan was at least worth a look on their 90-man offseason roster.
