Who knew Montrel Meander was such a hot commodity. He was waived by the Raiders on Tuesday and by Wednesday he was a member of the New York Jets.
The undrafted rookie signed onto the Raiders practice squad late last season and re-signed to a reserve/future contract. He was waived prior to the start of minicamp with the addition of WR Montay Crockett and undrafted free agent rookie CB Isaiah Langley.
The 6-2, 215-pound safety went undrafted out of Grambling State and spent the majority of last season on the Browns’ practice squad.
Following a brief stint at the University of Texas, Meander played two seasons at Grambling State. As a senior in ’17, he played in 13 games and totaled 49 tackles, two interceptions and two passes defended.
