Today was the first day of real football and the Arizona Cardinals had quite a few players out for injuries or veterans day off.
Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph said LB Haason Reddick (knee) will be back for the regular season opener.

It has been setback after setback for Haason Reddick. This time, it’s an injury that will likely cost him his entire preseason.
In such a crucial year, it’s disappointing. Let’s hope it’s just a bump in the road.
WRs have started individual drills. Looks like Chad Williams is missing so far.

Umm.
I don't see Marcus Gilbert out there on the field. But still early.
— Jess Root (@senorjessroot) July 27, 2019
Uhh…
Also haven't located Chandler Jones. Terrell Suggs and Brooks Reed are at OLB for defensive drills.
— Jess Root (@senorjessroot) July 27, 2019
So…
Also no Corey Peters from what I can see.

Kliff Kingsbury said some vets would get scheduled time off. Perhaps Gilbert, Jones, Peters getting an early day off on Day 1 of pads?
What is going on?
Let’s just hope as Jess stated, it’s just veterans day off for the majority.

I can’t tell you how excited I am for this with David Johnson and Kyler Murray.
DJ Foster on field but not in pads or helmet.

Working his way back slowly.
Nice rollout by Murray hitting Kirk on the sideline despite close coverage. Outside shoulder throw.

Wow. Murray threaded the needle to KeeSean Johnson with Peterson covering.

One of the rookies to know this season.
Byron Murphy with the pick. Rookie CB from Washington is having a nice day.
— Kent Somers (@kentsomers) July 27, 2019
Important to note.
Mason Cole first team today, AQ Shipley currently with the 2nd team.
— Blake Allen Murf (@blakemurphy7) July 27, 2019
First day with Mason Cole starting comes in the first padded practice.
Two poor throws in a row for Murray then bounces back with a nice touch pass to Kirk

Rookie things happening.
Way early evaluation of rookie WRs: Hakeem Butler has a ways to go. A bit stiff. Andy Isabella is as quick as he is fast. Keesean Johnson, 6th round pick, could be a pleasant surprise

Twiddles thumbs and whistles… Ask Gungus what I text him before camp today.
Josh Shaw getting the first team “box” safety reps with DJ Swearinger out. A nice hole for Chase Edmonds up the middle by first team OL

The composition of the secondary is going to be fascinating, because the starters are so obvious, but the question of depth and who makes the roster is real.
Kingsbury has called all plays in practices via headset/radio. Smart to get used to it pic.twitter.com/tjuXMoVlAT

Again, small things that I like.
Lot of Maxx Williams and 11 personnel today...
— Blake Allen Murf (@blakemurphy7) July 28, 2019
I feel like Maxxxxxxxxx Williams is going to make this team.
Budda Baker is hoping the move to free safety sets him up for interceptions this season. He just got one in #CardsCamp. Picked off Kyler Murray in the end zone.

One of those good/bad things about training camp.
Another good day of camp with a lot of highs and lows.
I can tell you, the organization is extremely high on this rookie class and are willing to take their lumps with them.
There will undoubtedly be lumps, but they believe they have a roster that will compete for 16 weeks.
While it’s one padded practice, so far, so good.
