The Panthers’ franchise quarterback fell from No. 25 in 2018 to No. 87 in 2019’s edition of the NFL Top 100.
Every year the NFL puts out a players’ ranking of the top 100 players in the league, and in 2019’s edition of the countdown Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton ranks No. 87 on the list.

Newton was ranked No. 25 in last year’s list, and he was on pace to rank even higher on this year’s countdown until a hit from Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt injured his shoulder and rendered him unable to throw a pass more than 20 yards downfield. With the uncertainty surrounding Newton’s recovery from offseason shoulder surgery heading into the 2019 season, it makes sense for the players to be bearish on his ability to play a full season at a high level. So, while I personally believe that Cam should be ranked higher than No. 87 on the countdown, I can understand why he was ranked here and I’m not prepared to get my pitchfork out of the barn just yet.
What do you think, Panthers fans? Is Cam ranked too high, too low, or just right? Share your thoughts with us.
