Ezekiel Elliott’s camp fires back, none to pleased about a criminal complaint concerning the the incident in Las Vegas.
Despite receiving no punishment from the NFL, Ezekiel Elliott is now the subject of a criminal complaint stemming from an incident in Las Vegas. However, the Cowboys RB’s lawyers believe it is nothing more than “extortion.”
Earlier it was reported the security guard was going to press charges. In response, Zeke’s lawyers put out a statement.
The statement read: “Over the course of the past several weeks, Mr. Elliott has been the target of extortion. Kyle Johnson’s filing of a criminal complaint against Mr. Elliott in connection with the Las Vegas incident is the latest attempt to do so. Mr. Elliott and his team are in contact with all of the proper authorities and are fully cooperating with them in their investigations.”
5 Most Important Players for Dallas Cowboys Success in 2019 - John Williams, Inside The Star✭
Ezekiel Elliott not in the top five?
A lot of people would probably have Ezekiel Elliott in their top five. He's an important player for me, but not quite there. He'd probably rank six or seven if I extended this list. I'm not a "running backs don't matter" guy like some are, but I do believe the value of running backs is diminishing and not as important to team success as the guys listed above.
If the Cowboys for some reason didn't have Elliott, I think they could get productive games out of the running back position from a combination of Tony Pollard, Mike Weber, and Jamize Olawale. They wouldn't be as productive as Elliott, but they don't need to be.
Elliott's a great player and I would like to see the Dallas Cowboys work out a contract extension with him this offseason to keep him around through his prime years, but as we inch closer to training camp, it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
DeMarcus Lawrence wants to beat Von Miller to season sacks record - Charean Williams, PFT
Tank is setting some lofty goals for 2019.
DeMarcus Lawrence continues rehab on his shoulder, but even while doing that, the Cowboys defensive end is thinking about getting a leg up on Von Miller.
The Broncos linebacker has talked openly about breaking Michael Strahan’s single-season sacks record. Strahan had 22.5 in 2001.
Lawrence wants it, too, and he wants to get it before Miller does.
“My goal is to be the best that’s ever played this game,” Lawrence said Saturday at SportsCon 2019 in Dallas. “For sure, I want to beat that sack record, make it my own, so he can talk about beating my record. I’m going to just wait until I get to the season and then worry about sacks.”
Can Kellen Moore turn Dallas into a top-tier offense?
First let’s start with the offense. I believe Moore is going to play match-ups against the defense. Something we never saw from Scott Linehan. The additions of receiver Randall Cobb and rookie running back Tony Pollard are the key to this.
We know that they are going to show different formations to defenses this season. I take this to mean we are going to exploit every miss match we can create. He will have the ability to move Cobb on the outside and bring receiver Amari Cooper into the slot creating a match-up for quarterback Dak Prescott to exploit.
Same goes for Pollard when he gets onto the field. If they were to use four receivers with running back Ezekiel Elliott still on the field, Moore can either exploit Pollards speed on the field against a linebacker and If the defense is in a nickel or dime defense then he can hammer them with Elliott.
This Jones Wearing The Shield Again - Mickey Spagnola, dallascowboys.com
What is this former Cowboy up to?
You remember Nate Jones, don’t you? Seventh-round draft choice of the Cowboys in 2004, defensive back from Rutgers, 205th pick that year, and in fact, the first of the Cowboys’ three seventh- round picks.
Nate played four seasons with the Cowboys, mostly as a reserve DB/special teams player, then four more in the NFL, two with Miami, one with Denver and then a split season in 2011 with Miami and New England, where he was active in a divisional-round playoff game but ended up inactive in Super Bowl XLVI when the Giants beat the Patriots, 21-17. Played 106 career games in the NFL, starting 11. Nice career for a seventh-round pick.
Now he’s embarking on his second NFL career, one not many former players ever pursue. Jones will be one of two former NFL players in their first years as an NFL official. A field judge, back there 20-25 yards off the line of scrimmage on the sideline with a flag in his back pocket.
Ezekiel Elliott, Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper 2019 MVP odds - Tony Thompson, Cowboys Wire
First Cowboys MVP since 1993?
Despite the incredible success the Dallas Cowboys have had as a franchise, there has only been one time a Cowboys player has come away with the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award. That distinction belongs to the league’s all-time leading rusher Emmitt Smith, for his work during the 1993 season in which he held out the first two games in a hotly contested contract dispute with owner Jerry Jones.
Will 2019 be the year Dallas breaks the curse? A look through the betting odds from MyBookie indicate it’s unlikely.
Here are the Cowboys players most likely to take home the award this season, what it would take to do so, and if it’s worth throwing some money at.
Romo is pretty good at the other sport he loves.
Tony Romo is one round closer to repeating as the winner of the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Stateline, Nevada.
The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback shot a six-birdie, two-under-par round of 70 for the second consecutive day Saturday to maintain the lead entering the final round of the tournament. With 51 points for the event, which uses a Stableford scoring system, Romo enters Sunday with a 9-point lead over ex-MLB pitcher Derek Lowe and ex-tennis player Mardy Fish.
”I felt good about the game coming in and it’s kind of held up this week,” Romo said after the round. “Ball striking has been real good. I missed a few putts, but everyone is going to do that. You just have to be aggressive and hopefully a few go in.”
