San Francisco 49ers second-round pick Deebo Samuel is not lacking in confidence. The former South Carolina Gamecock spoke to The State over the weekend about what Samuel’s goal would be for his rookie year:

Samuel would be the first wide receiver to win the award since Odell Beckham Jr. did back in 2014. With a weaker offensive draft class and Samuel being drafted into a situation where he has a position to produce, he will be one of the favorites to win. Samuel will have to do something to stand out.
That wouldn’t be much different from his four years at South Carolina. Samuel was a playmaker. I can’t wait to see his role. How fast will he get acclimated into the offense? How long until he separates himself from the rookies and vaults himself into the “you have to get this guy touches,” like George Kittle and Dante Pettis? Samuel—like a good amount of 49ers on the roster—has such a high variance of outcomes for this season. Samuel always had a chance to shine in the right opportunity. We’ll see if Kyle Shanahan gives him one.
