Roster construction never stops for the Dallas Cowboys.
The Dallas Cowboys didn’t have a practice on Monday, but that didn’t stop them from making some moves. The team released tight end Rico Gathers and with their open roster spot decided to add a defensive back that some around the franchise have familiarity with.
Dallas is officially bringing in defensive back Tyvis Powell (they worked him out earlier on Monday) and he has some history with both Ezekiel Elliott and Kris Richard. You can never have enough defensive backs, right?
The team is signing DB Tyvis Powell to fill Rico’s roster spot. Powell was an Ohio State teammate of Ezekiel Elliott’s, and he spent time with Kris Richard in Seattle.https://t.co/OIIOUinvdW

Often when we see a move in training camp it’s to accommodate somebody that is not going to be taking those snaps. We haven’t heard anything about any defensive back needing some time off but to be fair the group is currently operating without Byron Jones due to him being on the PUP list.
For so long many have wanted Kris Richard to bring in a safety that he coached during his time in Seattle. While it didn’t happen in the exact fashion that people thought it would that dream has technically reached fruition!
