When the Miami Dolphins signed former Arizona Cardinals first-round pick Robert Nkemdiche, the organization hoped a fresh start would be the change Nkemdiche needed to turn things around. Now the coaching staff is learning a few weeks later exactly why Arizona released the defensive tackle. Nkemdiche attempted to run gassers before Thursday’s preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and things went worse than many in Miami expected. While Nkemdiche might still be recovering from the torn ACL he sustained in December, not being able to complete a sprint across the field and back is unacceptable from a professional athlete. While few are expecting the 2019 season to be anything more than a developmental year for Miami, it still might not be enough for Nkemdiche to remain with the team for the foreseeable future. If his conditioning remains this poor, it’s difficult to see him ever getting back on an NFL field.
